Little Specs

I didn't expect to find out this way. I wasn't quite ready for confirmation yet that my youngest child also has Stickler Syndrome. The blood work had been sent off to genetics weeks prior, and even though I studied his facial features and saw right away that his tiny baby elbows were hyper-mobile (some call [...]

Henry Update: Home.

After 16 days in the hospital, Henry and I returned back home. I remained diligent on being involved in the doctor's rounds each morning which was often attended by a registrar or two (similar to what we would call a resident un the US health system), the head nurse, his assigned nurse and a consultant [...]

Henry Update Days 1-13 Post Op

I normally wouldn't publish a post unless I had something witty or sappy and maybe funny to write and made sure it was well thought out. But I'm feeling a bit numb emotionally, and if I don't write an update now for family and friends to read, and for Matt and I to look back [...]

Tetralogy of Fallot – Henry’s Diagnosis

Tetralogy of Fallot – Henry’s Diagnosis

I am a superstitious person. Not a, "don't cross a black cat or walk under a ladder," kind of superstitious, but more of a, "it's my fault, because I jinxed it," superstitous. My superstition started in grade school, from something as small as thinking I aced a test but spoke too confident and failed it, [...]

Boys’ Room + Play Room

Boys’ Room + Play Room

Growing up, I shared a room with my older sister. As a family of 5, we lived in a four bedroom home, so there was enough space for each of us to have our own, yet my parents used one of the rooms as an office and moved my sister and I in together. While [...]

Journaling Through Pregnancy

Journaling Through Pregnancy

I am so intrigued and in awe by the process that is pregnancy. With all of my pregnancies (four total including a loss at 6 weeks), I have been diligent with taking weekly measurements (when you have experience as a bridal stylist you get real familiar with bust, waist, and hip ratios!) and journaling weight [...]

What I’m Packing in my Hospital Bag (US vs. UK)

What I’m Packing in my Hospital Bag (US vs. UK)

One of the most beautiful and terrifying parts of pregnancy is that no one can tell you with 100% certainty when that baby is going to make his/her appearance. With my first, my water broke at home (in an Oscar-worthy dramatic performance) and baby was born eight days early. With my second, I had all [...]

5 Tips for Preparing for Baby

Whether it's your first or your fifth, you can never be too prepared for welcoming a new baby into your family. Here are my top tips for preparing for baby! 1.Keep everything in it's package (with the receipt if you have it) until you need to use it. There are so many items I bought [...]

Family Holiday in Florida

While the rain and wind of the damp UK winter was upon us, we decided to escape to sunny Florida for what has become an annual family holiday, and it did not disappoint! We joined my mom and step-dad, three of my five siblings (we/re a Brady bunch style family!) and their little ones for [...]

My Top 5 Tips for Traveling With Kids

My Top 5 Tips for Traveling With Kids

Raising children a few states away from family warranted a brazen attitude towards traveling with children at a young age, and often alone. My oldest took his first flight at nine weeks young. My second earned his wings at eleven weeks, (with 2 1/2 yo brother in tow). My mom has always offered to fly [...]

I’ve been a little MIA on here so here’s a quick catch-up of what we were up to in May: Huck turned 4, friends got married, I did a quick trip to MN to do some work on my dad’s estate with my sister, Mother’s Day, family time, fun in the sun, and spending as much time outside as we can! Looking forward to what June will bring 🩵☀️
My sweet Shepard and his kindergarten class put on an amazing little concert just for Mother’s Day. He has been talking about it for weeks and was so excited for it. I have never met anyone who loves as hard and pure and raw as this kid does. It was a wonderful way to kick off our Mother’s Day weekend.
Posting this here so I can save it forever. #fathersday #dadandson
Monday #dopaminedressing outfit🧡🧡🧡 The color of this blazer is gorgeous in person and perfect for spring. There are matching high waisted shorts purchased separately to wear as a set or apart. Both are on sale now. #vicidolls

Easter 2023.
This week marks a year since my dad’s passing. A week I will forever remember as the beginning of the end. The signs from him are always strong and lately the nightly visits from him in our dreams are consistent and even reassuring; getting to wake up feeling like I just spent a few hours with him. In the beginning of 2022 I was flying to Minneapolis every two weeks to take my turn being with him while he was in and out of the hospital with chemotherapy and blood transfusions. This would go on from February to April when he suffered a stroke related to chemo side effects that proved to be fatal. I was able to get from Chicago to Mpls quickly that day- in time for him to know I was there along with my siblings and other family, but he was gone within hours. While grief is so different for everyone, this audio clip from Andrew Garfield speaking about his mom’s passing has been so poignant for me. I want to talk about it. I want to talk about him. I miss him in the physical form, but I don’t feel like he’s completely gone. His energy is constantly around us and I feel his presence all the time. I only hope the same for others who have suffered a loss of a loved one. #lifeafterloss #payattentiontothesigns
It’s about damn time. 💎 #springcleaning #chandelier #cleantok #cleanreels
This coat is sale on sale right now and selling fast! The quality is amazing and it runs large, so size down. I’m wearing an XS and it fits perfectly. Beautiful for spring fall and winter. And if it’s already warm where you are, but now, wear later.
